Nordisk Mobiltelefon AB was established with the objective to deploy and operate premium grade mobile telecommunications networks for Mobile Telephony, Mobile Broadband, Fixed Wireless Telephony and Machine-to-Machine services. The business is based on the unique advantages achieved by combining CDMA2000 3G technology with radio transmission on the low frequency 450MHz and 410MHz bands. When fully deployed, the networks will offer cost-effective access to advanced services with close to total geographic coverage at a fraction of the investments of the current 3G operators.

The Company holds licenses and spectrum to be a full operator of mobile services in all of Scandinavia (Sweden, Norway and Denmark) and important parts of Northern Europe (Poland, Ireland and Iceland).

The CDMA2000 technology employed at the 450Mhz band, called CDMA450, offers the best from two worlds, all of the features from a leading 3G technology and the coverage advantage of low radio frequencies. The CDMA2000 technology is at present the largest 3G technology in the world with over 375 million subscribers securing product development, economies of scale and continued technology evolution. The physical properties of low radio frequencies enable NMT to cover a large geographical area at a significantly lower capex and opex compared to UMTS (WCDMA).
